The crew were very helpful. Even without collecting the wristband for the bikes they organised it for us. So we could still discover the beautiful island on bicycles. Of course one of the highlights and reasons coming here are the Quoakkas, and we didn't leave without a selfish. Definitely worth the trip.

The weather was great, the waters were calm, I was so surprised how everything works so well on the island- great infrastructure. Awesome bus trip around the island- (we decided to just do the loop as I'm on crutches) lovely meal at the restaurant and got to see the Quokka's!

My ticketing experience with Headout was positive: easy to navigate my way around the site & delivery of eticket was excellent. Absolutely loved exploring Ngilgi Caves, seeing & learning about the different formations. Hubby is 84yrs & I'm 68 yrs, yet we managed the steps down & up because of the clever layout with benches to sit on in each resting spot. Because of the quality, we bought gifts in the store as well. Team was friendly & helpful. Honestly, this was the best 2-3 hrs spent and great value in all respects.

Great afternoon experience. We were 65 and my wife 63. She had a stroke 12 years ago and was uncertain if she would cope with the steps, but had a great time. Great handrails to help you climb the steps down and up. Fantastic rock formations. Nice and cool on a hot day. Very informative all the way around. Highly recommended

The tour was great but the communication with headout for poor, we needed to reschedule due to bad weather, they never responded to my email and had no choice to talk to Ai assistant, next time I'll be booking local and avoiding this service.

Things to know before booking your Rottnest Island day tour

Make the most of your time on Rottnest by picking a trip that matches your interests, pace, and travel group. Here’s how to decide:

  • Travel style: Choose a self-guided trip with ferry plus bike or e-bike hire to explore the island at your own pace. If you’d rather relax and learn, book a fully guided bus, Segway, or coach tour with transport, commentary, and island highlights.
  • Activity level: If you’re keen to clock up kilometres and fresh air, opt for a bike or e-bike hire; if you’d rather take it easy, go for the guided bus or eco-boat tour with minimal walking.
  • Who you’re with: If you’re travelling with kids or family, go for structured bus tours or supervised Segway rides; if you’re with seniors or slower walkers, pick an air-conditioned bus tour with little walking.
  • Time on the island: If you have limited time on the island, take a short bus or eco-boat tour to hit the highlights; if you have a full day, self-guided bike hires or grand tours give you all-day access to beaches, bays, and lunch spots.
  • All trips include ferry transfers, but inclusions vary—some cover just the essentials (like bikes), others include full transport, meals, and expert guides. If you’re unsure, the guided bus tour offers the most well-rounded first-time experience.

Book ahead—ferries and bikes often sell out, especially in peak season and on weekends.
