This marked the first day of my parents first trip to Western Australia since I moved here late last year. They enjoyed themselves almost as much on the ferry down the Swan River as they did on Rottnest Island. Without this context, it would've been fair to assume that they were on a honeymoon.

The crew were very helpful. Even without collecting the wristband for the bikes they organised it for us. So we could still discover the beautiful island on bicycles. Of course one of the highlights and reasons coming here are the Quoakkas, and we didn't leave without a selfish. Definitely worth the trip.

Every team member we met today was absolutely fantastic, we had an amazing day! The volunteer guide team was great, super knowledgeable and really friendly. Along with the staff who drove the bus and train for the grand island tour! They made the trip fun, and a joy to experience! Rottnest Island is a must see when visiting Perth and it is truly a beautiful place to visit, my wife and I highly recommend the grand island tour.

Both the ferry service and the Grand tour were amazing. Island is bigger than I imagined. Saw lots of Quokkas! Both guides were great. Not crowded, easy to get around (with pram). Good facilities. Yummy boxed lunch. I am from Vic, was visiting family in WA. Would go again. Good value. Highly recommended.

Why a Rottnest Island skydive is worth it

Unparalleled scenic views

You get an unmatched aerial view of Rottnest Island and Western Australia’s coastline. From the plane, the island spreads out like a mosaic of white-sand beaches, turquoise shallows, inland salt lakes, and rugged headlands. The jump, although lasts for about 40 seconds, gives you a rare perspective you’d never see from the ground.

Soft beach landing experience

You also get the rare chance to land right on one of Rottnest’s sandy bays either Salmon Bay or Thomson Bay. Unlike traditional drop zones on hard or uneven terrain, these soft beach landings feel gentler, safer, and far more memorable. Touching down on warm sand, with the ocean just steps away, is truly a sight to remember.

After the fall, you can spend time on the island

You can choose not to end the adventure with the landing. Go ahead and explore its beaches, meet quokkas, cycle scenic trails, or simply unwind by the water, turning your skydive into a full day of island experiences.

Plan your visit

Opening hours: Skydive Geronimo operates daily from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, except on Wednesdays when it’s closed. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, hours are shorter, with operations running from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.

Best time for skydiving on Rottnest Island: The ideal months are October to April for clear skies and calmer winds. Morning slots, especially 8:30 am to 11 am are great for the smoothest conditions, brighter views, and fewer weather-related delays.

Note: If you're taking the ferry, expect a morning departure around 8am and a late-afternoon return, giving you ample time to skydive and explore the island in between.

  • From the Main Settlement to Skydive Geronimo: It’s about a 10–12 minute walk from the ferry jetty at Thomson Bay. Follow signs toward the Airport/Skydive area.
  • By shuttle or bike: You can also cycle or take the island shuttle to the Rottnest Airport if you prefer not to walk.
  • Getting to Rottnest Island: The fastest and most convenient option is the ferry, with departures from Perth City, Fremantle, and Hillarys running daily.
  • Arrive early: For morning jump slots, choose an early ferry (around 8am) so you have enough margin for check-in and post-jump island time.
  • Comfortable clothing and closed shoes suitable for skydiving and casual island exploring.
  • A light jacket, as it can get windy and cool at altitude.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for post-jump time on the island.
  • Water bottle and snacks, especially if you plan to explore beyond the Main Settlement.
  • Valid ID and booking confirmation, required for check-in before your skydive.
  • Age & consent requirements: Skydiving is restricted to guests 16+, and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign consent forms.
  • Weight restrictions apply: The standard limit is 95kg, with guests above this subject to a mandatory safety assessment by the Chief Instructor.
  • Health & medical clearance: Pregnant guests cannot participate. Those with disabilities, recent injuries, surgeries, or medical conditions (like heart issues or epilepsy) must present a doctor’s certificate and undergo an instructor assessment.
  • No alcohol or drugs: Avoid consuming drugs or alcohol for at least 8 hours before your jump to ensure safety during freefall and landing.
  • Cold, flu, or sinus issues: Illness on the day of the jump may make it unsafe to skydive and can lead to your booking being postponed.
  • Instructor’s final decision: The Chief Instructor has the authority to decline participation if any factor makes the jump unsafe.
